Cultural Immersion 2024

Cultural Immersion 2024

For over a decade, Moorambilla Voices has been privileged to participate in annual Artistic and cultural Immersions facilitated and supported by Indigenous Elders, Linguists, Cultural Knowledge Holders and Community Members, National Parks, and artists in the region we love.

Here are some photos from this April 2024 Cultural Immersion by Noni Carroll.

This year, renowned visual artist Badger Bates, supported by wonderful members of National Parks, shared with us the inspiring landscape, rock art, cliffs, caves, canyons, waterholes and riverbeds of Mutawintji National Park.

In the spirit of Yindyamarra, where we collectively commit to walking together with inclusion and respect, we start our journey towards ‘RIVERSONG 2024: Spirit of Water’. We look forward to sharing this journey with you as we develop our works with children and youth from the region, to be performed at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.

We share our immense gratitude to Badger Bates for leading us, Merle Dutton and Jordan Spencer, Leroy Johnson and Aimee Volkovsky, Brooke Briar and Ricky Mitchell from National Parks, Darneil Thomas and Faliesha Atkinson-Harris, and artists Charlotte Heywood, Sue Simpson and C. W. Stoneking; we will never forget our kangaroo curry, camp oven, and johnny cakes with you.
