2024 VOCES8 Collaboration

At the end of VOCES8’s Australian tour, the world-famous vocal ensemble conducted a two-day workshop with the MAXed OUT ensemble of Moorambilla Voices. This culminated in a special one-off concert that was performed for an intimate audience in the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House and recorded by ABC Classic, presented by Vanessa Hughes.

The program featured selections of a cappella repertoire by VOCES8, but also a selection of Australian works by composers Josephine Gibson, Andrew Howes, Kevin Barker, and Dan Walker with the MAXed OUT choir of Moorambilla Voices.

Moorambilla Voices, directed by Michelle Leonard OAM, is not just a choir but a unique arts organisation empowering children and youth. Many consider the MAXed OUT company to be the creative jewel in the Moorambilla crown. Through workshops, cultural immersions, and collaborations with top Australian artists, it fosters creativity and connection to country. Participants in remote areas explore choral singing, Taiko drumming, dance, and visual arts to find their voice and passion for the future.
