Moorambilla Voices Artistic Director Michelle Leonard OAM has announced the organisation's fifteenth fantastic annual program, featuring an array of outstanding performances, recording opportunities, artistic collaborations and premieres of new Australian music.

The award-winning creative arts program for children and youth kicks off 2021 with the annual Skills Development Workshop Tour commencing in March. The Workshops cover an enormous amount of territory inviting 134 schools, 60 towns and 20 Local Government Areas. From Goodooga to Molong, Wilcannia to Wee Waa and everywhere in between, Moorambilla Voices will visit every corner of NW NSW.

Students from Year 3 to Year 12 in the region can take part in these workshops through their school. Workshops focus on music literacy, singing and movement and are delivered regardless of a student’s financial status or previous experience.

It’s not all hard work, the Workshops are fun and engaging and help build confidence, self-awareness and teamwork. One of the exciting outcomes of the Workshops is the potential for students to become part of the broader Moorambilla Voices program – with an opportunity to be part of the 350 strong choir. The three ensembles are brought together for gala performances in Dubbo, as well as professional recording opportunities and invitations to perform at special events.

Students who can’t make the initial workshops can apply online with a ‘Singing Selfie’ through the Moorambilla website.

"It’s our task to bring the incredible energy and positive life force of these children to as many audience members and artistic partners as we can –and what a privilege it is too – they are extraordinary representatives for the capacity and creativity of regional NSW”, Ms Leonard says.

Many of Moorambilla’s participants identify as Indigenous and the team are proud to have strong community support and the involvement of Indigenous communities, supervisors, elders and artists.

Moorambilla Voices works hard with government agencies, philanthropists, private individuals, local fundraising committees and parents to support the region’s children achieve excellence. When everyone works together, Moorambilla Voices is able to provide the children with opportunities beyond their wildest dreams.
