Code of Conduct – CHILD / YOUNG PERSON

The Moorambilla Voices Program is committed to keeping safe and protecting all children and young people who are involved within it.

Our leaders and team strive to provide a child safe and inclusive environment which safeguards every individual, regardless of their background, culture, values, beliefs, and gender.

This Code aims to outline your rights and responsibilities as well as the means to access support and assistance.

This Code will support you to behave and interact with others in a way that preserves, protects, and promotes your safety, welfare and wellbeing and ensure that this protection and support is extended to all associated children and young people.

Who does it apply to?

The Moorambilla Code of Conduct applies to all children and young people involved with Moorambilla Voices.

As a MV participant you must sign and abide by this Code of Conduct, which requires you to:

  • Commit to conducting yourself in a manner consistent with the MV culture of respect, kindness, and positivity.
  • Be respectful of the rights, background, culture, and beliefs of all individuals with whom you come into contact.
  • Uphold the values, integrity, and culture of the MV organisation at all times, in respect of the safety and protection of all participants, program content, artistic outcomes and the integrity of the community.

I will:

  • Be inclusive, sensitive, and responsive to each situation and all individuals, regardless of gender, culture, ability, age, and capability. 
  • Participate openly in discussions relating to my own safety and wellbeing, as well as the safety and wellbeing of others.
  • Contribute to the MV culture by behaving in ways which are:
  • honest, kind, respectful and inclusive of all individuals
  • respectful to and of land and Country
  • respectful of each person’s right to privacy.
  • Listen to and follow instructions including staying within agreed geographical boundaries.
  • Resolve conflict and issues in an acceptable manner and speak to a Supervisor or Ensemble Manager if necessary.
  • Report any concern, misconduct, abuse, or emergency to Supervisors / Ensemble Manager / a suitable adult immediately.
  • Engage in physical contact such as gestures of affection (including arms linked, hugs, etc.) with others ONLY when mutual consent has been given to do so.
  • Seek assistance from a peer, Supervisor, Ensemble Manager, or suitable adult if I don’t feel heard or listened to.
  • Abide by all agreed safeguards including the prohibition of personal mobile phones / electronic devices, social media use, and other prohibited items on site such as drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and vapes.
  • Be always a positive advocate and representative of the MV program, especially during a performance or in a public context.

I will not:

  • Disrespect or disregard another person, including Supervisors and MV staff and artists.
  • Harass, bully, or discriminate against any other person.
  • Film or photograph anyone.
  • Engage in any inappropriate contact or relationship, including but not limited to, any physical contact with any other child or young person.
  • Consume or provide any cigarettes, vapes, alcohol or illegal substances while engaged in MV activities, nor promote the use of these substances to any other person.
  • Engage in any online or social media posts, comments or statements which are in contravention to this Code.
  • Bring Moorambilla Voices into disrepute through speech, acts or omissions.

Any breaches of this Code of Conduct may mean the immediate termination of students involvement in the Moorambilla Voices Program.
