Residency Camps
In August and September, participants identified during the Skills Development Workshops attend the residential camps in Baradine. At the camps, participants co-create new multi art form works, learning both basic and advanced performance skills. Professional musicians, performers, composers, dancers and outstanding indigenous regional visual artists, provide training, leadership and mentorship during the camp sessions.
Annually, over 300 students attend camp where they dance, sing, compose, create, play drums and learn about the cultural traditions and stories of their landscape. This is delivered in partnership with the highest quality professional musicians, performers, composers, choreographers and visual artists including Jacob Williams, Anton Lock, Percussion Australia, composers Andrew Howes, Josephine Gibson, Kevin Barker, Alice Chance, photographer Noni Carroll, visual artist Omila Bir, lantern artists Jyllie Jackson and Sara Tinning.

upcoming events schedule
Moorambilla Voices aims to create and present cross art form integration that speaks directly to our shared connection to country. It focuses on the genres of choirs, Taiko, contemporary dance and digital media. Regional and remote participants co-create works with composers, choreographers and visual artists to showcase capacity, creativity and connection to the land. It is this long-term commitment to cultural understanding with exceptional calibre of artists that sets the program apart from others at a national level. The yearly program of skills development, intensives, cultural immersions, residency camps, tours, recordings and performances make the program unique within the Australian arts ecology.

MAXed OUT Company Intensive in Dubbo

Three day choral and Taiko intensive workshop sessions are programmed as part of the year’s additional program activities as an opportunity for participants to intensively rehearse the new creative material. Led by the Artistic Director, these weekends involve the collaboration of the artistic team and Taiko and dance partners. These sessions also provide leadership training for the older participants.

Moorambilla Tours
During the year, the choirs are offered performance opportunities from various sources. These activities, which are outside the core program, present opportunity for the organisation to broaden its reach and reputation within the artistic and educational environments. These non-core events are approved based on available funding, timing with students’ educational schedules and connection to the strategic goals and aspirations of the organisation.
